Microsoft itself has not launched anything new in the Windows Mobile for months now, last we heard was the Lumia 650 getting launched with Windows 10 and HP coming up with a Windows 10 phone – HP Budget Windows 10 Mobile to Come With Cortana. There is a lack of interest from smartphone manufacturers to come up with a new Windows phone.
The last Windows 10 Mobile phone from Microsoft, the Lumia 650 was released in 2016. The last OEM device, the HP Elite x3 (and considered by Windows Mobile fans to be the best of its kind) was released in October 2017.
Why was Windows Mobile discontinued?
With the diminishing interest and application development for the platform, Microsoft discontinued active development of Windows 10 Mobile in 2017, and the platform was declared end of life on January 14, 2020.
Can you still use Windows Phone in 2020?
Yes. Your Windows 10 Mobile device should continue to work after December 10, 2019, but there will be no updates after that date (including security updates) and device backup functionality and other backend services will be phased out as described above.
Can Windows 11 run on Android?
You can run Android apps on Windows 11 thanks to a collaboration between Microsoft and Amazon, with apps being supplied from Amazon’s own app store. Admittedly, with the Amazon Appstore still being in preview, the selection isn’t that great so far.
Is there a mobile version of Windows?
There are three main versions of Windows Mobile for various hardware devices: Windows Mobile Professional runs on smartphones with touchscreens, Windows Mobile Standard runs on mobile phones without touchscreens, Windows Mobile Classic which runs on personal digital assistant or Pocket PCs.
