Finally, our universe would end in an explosion, a singularity of literally infinite energy. Current theories predict that if this so-called Big Rip is in our future, it will take another 22 billion years to arrive.
(NASA/CXC/Univ of Texas at Arlington/M. Millard et al.) At the end of the Universe, long after the last shining stars flicker out, there might be one final set of explosions. Called black dwarf supernovae, these dazzling blasts will herald in the everlasting darkness as the Universe sinks into dormancy, a new study suggests.
The research, published in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, notes that sometime over the “next few trillion years,” when the universe is dead as we know it, stars will continue to explode, not with a giant bang, but “very, very slowly fizzle.”
Not for at least 2.8 billion years We’re safe for now. The way the universe is expanding, it won’t be tearing itself apart for at least a few billion years.
Will the universe expand forever?
There is a strong consensus among cosmologists that the shape of the universe is considered “flat” (parallel lines stay parallel) and will continue to expand forever.
Is it possible for the universe to explode?
As the Universe balloons, eventually, gravitational forces won’t be able to keep galactic clusters together. Stars will be stripped away from each other, and solar systems such as ours won’t have the strength to stay together. The remaining stars and planets will explode. Finally, the last atoms will be ripped apart.
What caused the universe to explode?
While an explosion of a man-made bomb expands through air, the Big Bang did not expand through anything. That’s because there was no space to expand through at the beginning of time. Rather, physicists believe the Big Bang created and stretched space itself, expanding the universe.
What year will the universe collapse?
22 billion years in the future is the earliest possible end of the Universe in the Big Rip scenario, assuming a model of dark energy with w = u22121.5.
Will the universe last forever?
Most observations suggest that the expansion of the universe will continue forever. The prevailing theory is that the universe will cool as it expands, eventually becoming too cold to sustain life. For this reason, this future scenario once popularly called “Heat Death” is now known as the “Big Chill” or “Big Freeze”.
Does the universe regenerate?
According to the Big Bang theory, the whole universe emerged during a single moment some 13.7 billion years ago. In the competing theory, our universe generates and regenerates itself in an endless cycle of creation.
What happens after the universe dies?
Trillions of years in the future, long after Earth is destroyed, the universe will drift apart until galaxy and star formation ceases. Slowly, stars will fizzle out, turning night skies black. All lingering matter will be gobbled up by black holes until there’s nothing left.
Will the universe become empty?
So long as energy exists within it — even the zero-point energy of the quantum vacuum is sufficient — there will always be some form of radiation that can never be removed. The Universe has never been completely empty, and so long as dark energy doesn’t decay entirely away, it never will be, either.
Will there be a second Big Bang?
According to physicists at Harvard, who have a pretty good track record when it comes to stuff like this, the Higgs boson — most often described as a quantum particle that gives other particles their mass — will likely become unstable and explode in a second Big Bang.
Will there be another Big Bang after the Big Crunch?
At the time of the Big Crunch, all the matter in the universe would be crushed into an infinitely hot, infinitely dense singularity similar to the Big Bang. The Big Crunch may be followed by another Big Bang, creating a new universe.
What happens after the universe ends?
Trillions of years in the future, long after Earth is destroyed, the universe will drift apart until galaxy and star formation ceases. Slowly, stars will fizzle out, turning night skies black. All lingering matter will be gobbled up by black holes until there’s nothing left.
How long until universe ends?
22 billion years in the future is the earliest possible end of the Universe in the Big Rip scenario, assuming a model of dark energy with w = u22121.5.

Will the Earth ever explode? – Quora
No. Planets cannot explode. There is literally no force in the Universe that can provide enough energy to “explode” a planet except for its sun becoming a supernova. And our sun is too small to become a supernova. Earth will continue orbiting the Sun for the remainder of its life, until the Sun expands into a red giant and literally swallows it up.

Is the Sun expanding? Will it ever explode? (Beginner)
So the Sun will never explode (even though more massive stars can and do). The difference is that the Sun isn’t massive enough to ignite anything past helium in its core.
