We human creatures are the only ones who can transcend body-mind, study, and comprehend the system of creation and its significance. We are the ones who have to preserve this physical world and its balance so it can sustain us and all creature in the chain of life – in a life-fulfilling way.
The importance of human life is determined by individual perception, and is usually subject to that individual’s values, beliefs and culture. Over the centuries, many people have written and spoken about this subject, but there is no single universal answer.
Humans control the world because we are the only animal that can cooperate flexibly in large numbers. Ants and bees can also work together in large numbers, but they do so in a very rigid way. If a beehive is facing a new threat or a new opportunity, the bees cannot reinvent their social system overnight in order to cope better.
But our Movement continues to argue that it is important to imagine and build a global sense of humanity because our common human problems are intense and interdependent, and can only be solved internationally not just nationally. There are five truly existential problems that we all share as members of the human species, and always have done.

Without human intervention, the landscape would be more homogeneous, and fewer species would live there. Sadly, humans are also responsible for the replacement of these landscapes by ones with low biological diversity because of more intensive uses. Our species has done nothing for the benefit of life on Earth.
