Why Does An Electric Bulb Not Glow When Both The Wires Are Connected To The Same Terminal Of A Cell

The two wires should be connected with two different terminals of cell to make the electric bulb glow but here, both the wires are connected to one common terminal of the bulb. Hence, the electric bulb will not glow. Current flows due to the movement of electrons.

When both wires of the bulb are connected to the same terminal, there isn’t any difference in charge level between the wires and hence current doesn’t flow. It’s like connecting the water tanks at the same level, water won’t flow.

Water flows from high level to low level. In the case of cell current flows from positive to negative if you connect a bulb in between and bulb glows, and if you short both the terminals with a wire short circuit takes place and battery gets discharged and even it may explode for higher capacity of batteries.

Why does a bulb not glow when only phase wire is attached, if in that …

When the wire is bent, an imbalance of surface charge quickly builds up on the surface of the wire. This establishes an equilibrium that causes the electric field to curve along with the wire. Once this charge density on the surface is established the electric field is curved with the wire and current can flow normally.

Why Does the Filament of a Light Bulb Glow While the Connecting Wires …

The tungsten filament is what is called a resistor–an electric component designed to resist the flow of electricity. That is one of the reasons why it is so thin. The thinner a wire, the harder it is for electricity to pass through and the more resistance the wire poses. The connecting wires, by contrast, are conductors–wires designed to …

Why do bulbs glow brighter when connected in parallel?

When the bulbs are connected to a voltage source, the voltage is divided over the two bulbs in series, and the power consumed by each will be U²/4R. The bulbs in parallel each have a voltage of U over them, and therefor each consumes U²/R power. In this case the claim in the question is correct. the bulbs in parallel are brightest.
