When Was The First F1 Game Made

F-1 (1976) by Namco has been cited as the first true Formula One arcade game. However, it was an electro-mechanical game, rather than an arcade video game. The first successful Formula One video game in arcade history was Pole Position (1982), by Namco.

The game was developed by Sumo Digital and based on the 2009 Formula One World Championship season. It was initially released on 16 November 2009 and available for Wii and PlayStation Portable platforms.

In 1950, the FIA responded with the first ever official World Championship for Drivers. The championship series, to be held across six of the ’major’ Grands Prix of Europe plus the Indianapolis 500, was in effect a formalization of what had already been developing in Grand Prix racing during the previous years.

The series holds the official license of the FIA Formula One World Championship, with the FIA Formula 2 Championship available since the 2019 game. A total of twenty games have been released to date, with the series’ latest installment, F1 2021, released in July 2021. Electronic Arts ’ EA Sports division started the series with F1 2000.
