If you want to know when did ECW start and end, read this article. You’ll find out the reason for its decline. In short, it’s too big to be small. And as a result, many of its star wrestlers were snapped up by other promotions. As a result, ECW had to start all over again. And it’s not surprising that fans felt cheated.

ECW was so popular that it quickly reached the third most popular wrestling promotion in the country, behind the World Wrestling Federation and Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling. However, it received no national television advertising and a very low budget. Even so, ECW was successful for a few years and became TNN’s highest-rated program. Eventually, the WWF signed Raw to TNN, and ECW was no longer on the air.

In 2006, WWE purchased ECW’s assets and relaunched it as a stable in the World Wrestling Federation’s Invasion storyline. In addition to bringing back ECW, WWE also used ECW wrestlers to its roster. The move made ECW look like a third brand in the WWE and it was very successful. But the rebirth didn’t last and it was ultimately cancelled.

ECW was born from a breakaway from the NWA. Shane Douglas won the NWA Heavyweight Title Tournament and held up the ECW world heavyweight championship belt. This marked the beginning of the end for ECW, which had become known as Extreme Championship Wrestling. The NWA disassociated from ECW and stripped Douglas of his world title. However, ECW did eventually switch its name to Extreme Championship Wrestling.
