What Does Gfebs Provide The Army With

GFEBS enables the Army to fully assess the results of its financial and property management performance and costs to facilitate timely decision-making through the use of accurate, transaction-based information across the Active Army, the Army National Guard and the Army Reserve.

General Fund Enterprise Business Systems (GFEBS) are a group of integrated financial management applications that provide the Army with modern financial capability. These programs replace several legacy financial management systems, integrate across functional business processes, and provide Army audit readiness. The GFEBS system can also be used to streamline the Army’s financial community. This article focuses on the Army’s use of GFEBS to support the financial management of the force.

The initial testing of GFEBS-SA occurred on July 20, and took a unique approach. Instead of relying on one or two test teams, the team distributed the tests among six geographically dispersed units. The OTC team physically observed and recorded test units and financial transactions. The testing team was also responsible for ensuring the safety of the testing units and personnel. The GFEBS-SA program is now undergoing operational evaluation.

The GFEBS system will be used to provide secure financial data to senior leaders. It is currently scheduled for migration to the cloud in summer 2020 and is expected to transition seamlessly to the Army’s new SAP-based system, the Army Strategic Services Center. The Army SSC will provide enterprise-level oversight and DevSecOps software development lifecycles, enabling ERP programs to focus on new capabilities and meet the increasing auditability requirements.

The General Fund Enterprise Business System product office is a part of the Defense Integrated Business Systems portfolio. The system is an integrated financial management capability that traverses multiple enterprise resource planning systems. This project is a win-win situation for the Army. The GFEBS team is proud to support the Army and look forward to delivering better business solutions. You can find more information about GFEBS on Wikipedia.
