Walter Lee Younger takes all the money Lena gives him and attempts to invest it in his liquor business. After Lena sympathizes with her son and realizes that she has been neglecting his dreams, she graciously gives him the remainder of the money from the ten thousand dollar insurance check.

Walter attempts to invest the remaining sixty-five hundred dollars into his liquor business. However, his shady partner, Willy Harris, steals the money and leaves town.
