With this vision of the Kingdom of God, Jesus chose 12 disciples to be part of his Inner circle of followers. These 12 disciples had the privilege of sitting at the feet of the Messiah and participating in the expansion of God’s Kingdom on earth.
The only one of the original apostles whom we know for certain was married was Peter. We also know that his wife traveled with him during some of his evangelization. At some point his wife died but we do not know when. However there is no indication that he left her.
