This action allows you to sharpen gifs to perfection. It works on the Timeline and can sharpen gifs from 720p or 1080p videos. There are three different options for this action. To find out which one you want, follow the instructions below. Alternatively, you can use the search bar to find one on Google. The action is free. However, you must have a Tumblr account in order to use it.
First, select a file from your computer. Once you do, open it in Photoshop. Open the file you want to sharpen. Click the Actions button. This will bring up a dialogue box. Select opacity and color. You can also choose a frame delay. The default value is 30% but you can choose higher if you wish. Once the action is applied, click OK. Then, choose a save location and click the “save” button.
Another option is resampling. Resampling will affect the gif’s quality differently depending on the size of the frame. In the example above, the gif is 500/540px in size. The sharpening action may be too aggressive on this size. However, resampling may not affect the gif as much. Just make sure you don’t oversharpen a gif if it hasn’t been sharpened before.

This is slightly new adjustment by Tumblr to compensate for the leftover pixel. 177 x 3 = 531 then + 8 for the margins = 539. 1 extra pixel. Phew math, hard. Footnote 3: About 24-30 frames usually can be stuffed into full width gifs, 30-70+ in double and triple gifs. I don’t recommend skipping frames, unless it’s really warranted.
