January 1: VOCALOID Retirement: Zero-G Ltd. ceased retail sales of the VOCALOIDs LEON, LOLA, and MIRIAM. January 31: VOCALOID CHINA shuts down (later relaunched as VOCANESE ).

VOCALOID Release: February 14 – kokone released. February 18: Yamaha announces two new female VOCALOID3 vocal libraries, anon & kanon, set to be released in March. VOCALOID Release: March 3 – anon & kanon released. March: VOCANESE was launched and replaced VOCALOID CHINA. VOCALOID Release: April 3 – Pocket Miku released.

The thing is, Yamaha declared that all their vocal synth tech is “Vocaloid” now and all their vocal synth AI tech is “Vocaloid: AI”. Vocaloid will continue on. But its going to be a bit more quieter. We’re due a new Vocaloid engine either next year or 2022. I’ll be surprised if its sooner.
