The way Victoria loved Victor, she went against her parents and rebelled. The way Emily loved Victor was different, she let him go, which I kind of doubt Victoria would’ve done. That old saying has some value; If you love something, set it free. Victoria and Victor seemed like young love, the kind teenagers have.
Yeah, Victor and Victoria were in love, no one can deny that. But there’s many different kinds of love. And I really think Victor was falling in love with Emily. I think Victor falling in love with Emily made more sense to me. It was happening more slowly, so slowly a lot of people missed it. But it was there.
But was Victoria the right choice in the end? Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride (2005) was a deliciously spooky, macabre, quirky, and heartwarming film. But it doesn’t end the way many people wanted it to, rather it ended how it needed to, with Victor free to marry Victoria, and Emily set free from her purgatory.
