Ruhel Islam, a Bangladeshi immigrant, opened his Minneapolis restaurant Gandhi Mahal in 2008. He built it with a commitment to sustainability — it had an apiary on the roof and an aquaponic garden in the basement. Islam also maintained a commitment to community and equality from day one.

’I hear him say on the phone; “let my building burn, Justice needs to be served, put those officers in jail”,’ she added in the post. ’Gandhi Mahal May have felt the flames last night, but our fiery drive to help protect and stand with our community will never die!
