Agreed, if you have a good SATA2 drive RAID is pointless. if you want good performance for games either use a raid 0 or just get one the new 150gb raptors. use it as your main drive for os and games. use the other large hd as storage and/or for less demanding stuff.

You can always mix drive sizes in RAID. And in plain RAID you always get the smallest common size from all drives. So in your case, each drive use 4TB. If you added one 1TB drive, all the drives would act as 1TB drives. It’s that simple. That doesn’t seem like the same thing @GORT is talking about?…. is it?

I’ve heard that if you have two drives with different capacity, you will be limited to the slower one when making a RAID-0 configuration. The drives that I would combine however, seem to have the same read & write specs. It’s a Samsung 850 Pro SSD.
